A serialized travelogue

WELCOME TO PIGS IN THE TOILET!

Welcome to Pigs in the Toilet, an online blog-book that chronicles one traveler's quest for meaning ... and pigs.

Pigs is book-length travelogue originally published in twice-weekly serial installments. The entire book is now online, however if you'd like to be added to my mailing list (you never know -- there may be a sequel), you can click here.

If this is your first visit to the site, and are wondering what the hell this is all about, check out the FAQ (or read what others have been saying about Pigs). If you're wondering who I am, click here. When you're ready to read the book, start with Part 1 (other installments are listed here).

The most recent updates are listed below. Enjoy, and happy travels!

ENCOUNTERS WITH THE MIDDLE EAST

Before I post Part 70 -- the final installment -- I wanted to exploit everyone's captive eyeballs and plug a new book that I’m a part of: Encounters With the Middle East.

The book is published by the good folks at Travelers Tales, and features musings on the Middle East by prominent writers such as Rolf Potts, Jeff Greenwald, Bruce Feiler, Tim Mackintosh-Smith, and ... yours truly. My piece, "Kidnapped by Syrian" Hospitality, was not originally published as part of Pigs in the Toilet, so you’ll have to buy the book in order to read it (though you can find a slightly different version on the Web).

The book is available at Amazon and Powell’s, among others. Check it out, and feel free to spread the word.
